"May your name be inscribed in the Book of Life"

Mixed media on hand-bound canvas book,

12cm x 13cm

"May your name be inscribed in the Book of Life" is an analysis of the multiple names that Judaism has for God and the connotations that each of them carry. The exploration into the mutability of names and their meanings links ideas of gender and religion, utilising and contrasting age-old texts with modern day interpretations.

The title is taken from a blessing said during the High Holy Days, where God inscribes every person's fate for the coming year into the Book of Life, deeming them righteous or not.
